Custom software, AI agents and automation for small businesses

Free your business from outdated software.

A need no off-the-shelf software covers, licences that cost a fortune, or an old system nobody dares touch anymore? We build your custom software: a secure web app, easy to maintain and designed around how you work.

Sound familiar?

  • Only one person really understands the tool that runs the business, and they're leaving soon.
  • Every month, you pay licences for features nobody uses.
  • No off-the-shelf software does exactly what you need.
  • Your data is there, but every report means paying a developer.
  • Your system only works at the office, not remotely.
  • Nobody really knows whether there is a backup.

What we build

Microsoft 365

Where your team already works

  • Sign in with existing Microsoft 365 accounts: no new passwords.
  • Documents saved straight to your SharePoint.
  • Alerts and approvals in Teams and Outlook.
  • Your IT keeps control of access, in one place.

Method

Two phases, no surprises

Phase 1 — Build

Fixed scopeFixed price

Your application, designed and delivered with a fixed scope and a fixed price, whether it replaces an existing tool or starts from scratch.

  1. 1Build
  2. 2Parallel runWhen the application replaces an existing system, your team uses both side by side for about a month, and we adjust.
  3. 3Planned switchoverOn the date you choose with us, the new application becomes the only one in use. The old one stays available read-only.

Phase 2 — Improve

Automation, new features: whatever you want once the foundation is solid.

Scheduled when you are ready, from a bank of hours.

Hosting

On your premises, in your cloud, or with us

Three options, your choice.

  • On your premises

    On your own servers.

  • In your cloud

In your own cloud environment, under your control.

  • With us

Hosted and monitored by JL Dev.

Security

A security review on every release, not once a year

No system is invulnerable. What matters is what is done before, and how fast you react after.

Before

  • Adversarial security review on every release
  • Critical rules checked automatically
  • Least-privilege access
  • Backups

After

  • Monitoring and alerts
  • Incident procedures ready
  • Backups that actually restore
  • Someone who answers

Rigour

How we build

  1. 01Every critical rule is checked automatically before every release to production.
  2. 02Every fix is reproduced and verified, never assumed.
  3. 03You deal with the engineer who makes every architecture and security decision.
  4. 04Every application goes through an adversarial security review before delivery.
  5. 05Delivered with monitoring, alerts, backups and documentation, not just “it runs”.

Maintenance

Security is measured at a point in time

Security is measured at a point in time; it is never acquired for good. Every change and every newly discovered vulnerability can lower the level reached at delivery. Maintenance keeps it there.

FAQ

Your questions, in your words

Getting started

We're in a remote region. Can you help us?

Absolutely. All our projects are delivered remotely. We follow our clients wherever they are, and we can work with several offices at once, from Montréal to Toronto and abroad.

Our team is spread across several offices. Is that a problem?

No, it's our everyday. We already run projects with teams in several cities and countries in parallel.

Do you also build software from scratch?

Yes. Many of our projects start from an idea or a need no off-the-shelf software covers: an AI platform, an internal management tool, a Windows agent, a Microsoft 365 integration. See our work.

We were told nothing could be done with our old system. Can you help?

Let us be the judge. Modernizing the systems others refuse to touch is one of our specialties. Book an assessment: we'll look at your system and tell you honestly what is possible.

We received a quote over $250,000. Is that normal?

Not necessarily. Large firms bill for their structure: project managers, account managers, offices, layers of approval. We have none of that. You deal directly with the person who designs, builds and secures your application, and the price reflects it.

Our project is small. Is it worth calling?

Projects start at $5,000. The assessment is free: in one call, we will tell you whether it makes sense.

How much does custom software cost?

Our projects start at $5,000. After the assessment, you receive a quote with a defined scope and a fixed price: the price does not change along the way.

How much does an AI agent cost?

Like our other projects, it is delivered at a fixed price, from $5,000. You also need to plan for the subscription or usage of the AI model itself (Claude, GPT or another).

How does a project work?

Everything happens on Teams: discovery, regular demos as work progresses, delivery. Zero time lost to travel. That time goes into your project, and you see progress continuously.

Our situation

Only one person understands our system, and they are retiring. Are we stuck?

No. We document the business logic during the project, so the knowledge no longer depends on one person.

What happens to our existing data?

Everything that can be migrated automatically is: we build the import tools for your system. Where the old system stored some data badly (missing relationships, inconsistent fields), you choose: we handle it, your team does it with an assisted migration tool we provide, or you leave it behind. No surprises: you know before the switchover what migrates and how.

We can't stop operations, not even for a day.

No interruption. Usually your team uses both systems side by side for about a month: you tell us what seems different, and we adjust. Then we set the switchover date with you: the new application becomes the only one in use, the old one stays available read-only, and the final data migration is done.

Our system has features nobody uses anymore. Do you rebuild those too?

No, unless you want them. During discovery, we review what your team really uses. What no longer serves stays behind: your new application is simpler, faster to learn, and you don't pay for the past.

Our staff don't want to learn a new tool.

The application plugs into what they already use: sign-in with their Microsoft 365 accounts, documents in SharePoint, notifications in Teams.

What if we have new ideas along the way?

That's normal, and even a good sign. The initial scope stays protected: your project is delivered at the agreed price and date. New ideas go into a bank of hours or phase 2, and you decide when and how much.

Is Microsoft discontinuing Access?

No, Access still exists. But every version has an end-of-support date: Access 2016 and 2019 lost support on October 14, 2025, and Access 2021 lost it on October 13, 2026. No support means no more security fixes. If your database runs on one of those versions, now is the right time to talk.

Why not Power Apps?

Power Apps works well for some simple needs. Its limits show up quickly: a licence paid per user, every month, capped data capacity, complex logic that is hard to maintain, and awkward access for external users. A custom application has no per-user licence, and it is yours. In the assessment, we'll tell you honestly which one fits.

After delivery

What happens if you disappear?

Your application is 100% yours: source code, documentation, data. It is built on standard, open technologies, so any competent developer can take it over. You are never held hostage.

If the code is ours, why maintenance?

Because security is measured at a point in time; it is never acquired for good. Every change and every newly discovered vulnerability can lower the level reached at delivery. Maintenance keeps it there.

We prefer to keep everything in-house.

On your premises, in your cloud, or hosted by us. Your choice.

How do we know it is secure?

Every application goes through an adversarial security review on every release, led by an engineer with more than 20 years in security consulting. No system is invulnerable: what matters is what is done before, and how fast you react after.

Told nothing could be done? Let us be the judge.
