Claude for business: where to start
Claude is used more and more in Québec. Between a personal trial and an assistant that is truly useful to the business, there are a few steps. Here they are.

Three ways to use Claude in a business
- Claude's apps for teams. Your employees use Claude in their browser or on their computer, with a plan designed for businesses. It is the fastest way to start.
- Claude connected to your systems. With MCP connectors, Claude can look into your database, your CRM or your documents, within the limits you set. That is where AI becomes truly useful to the business.
- Claude inside your own applications. Through Anthropic's API, Claude can be built into custom software: a chat platform, an assistant in your client portal, an internal tool.
Step 1: pick the right use cases
Start with a question that comes up often and costs time or money. For example: "Which orders are late this month?", asked every week of someone who has to dig through three systems. A good first case is frequent, useful and doesn't touch your most sensitive data.
Step 2: connect Claude to your data
Without access to your data, Claude can only answer from what you paste into the conversation. A custom MCP server gives it access to a specific system, with clear rules: which data, read-only or not, for which users.
That is what we did for a manufacturing company in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu: its employees now query their SQL database in plain language, instead of commissioning a report for every new question.
Step 3: set up security
- Least privilege: Claude only sees what it needs.
- Sensitive data kept apart: personal or strategic information is only exposed when justified.
- Terms of use: check what your chosen plan provides for the use and retention of your data.
- Québec's Law 25: when personal information is processed outside Québec, the law requires a privacy impact assessment before it is sent. Plan for it from the start.
Step 4: measure
After a few weeks, look at how many questions are asked, how much time they save and what is still missing. That guides what comes next: connecting a second system, adding users or adjusting access.
In short
Using Claude is easy. Turning it into a reliable, secure business tool takes some work: picking the right cases, connecting it to your data and controlling access. That is exactly what we do, at a fixed price.
